The Bills released their injury report today. Preparing for the Jets on Sunday, the Bills announced that wide receiver Stevie Johnson is questionable with a groin injury. Also quarterback/wide receiver Brad Smith (groin) was listed as probable and offensive lineman Kraig Urbik (low back) was listed as probable.
Obviously the major news is Johnson being listed as questionable with a groin injury. Johnson was limited in practice today. I can’t imagine Johnson not giving it a go for Week 1 but if he doesn’t suit up the Bills will need to find production elsewhere. Look for running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller to be more of an option where the Bills might try to rush the outside and look to them for more pass options.
Earlier in the week, Jets head coach Rex Ryan took some shots at Johnson. Ryan commented that Johnson, who saw some success against cornerback Darrelle Revis, did not have the All-Pro’s number.
On the Jets injury report, they listed safety Eric Smith (hip) and guard Dennis Lanoldt (knee) as out. Tight end Dustin Keller (hamstring) and defensive tackles Sione Pouha (back) and Mike Devito (calf were listed as questionable. Among the reported probable players are linebacker David Harris (ankle), Stephen Hill (calf), safety Laron Landry (heel), and guard Brandon Moore (hip).
