When Fred Jackson went down with a knee injury in a week 1 loss to the Jets, backup running back C.J. Spiller took fool advantage. Spiller rushed for 292 yards and three touchdowns in the remaining week 1 loss and a week 2 win.
So it was not surprising when Spiller got off to another fast start on Sunday when he rushed for 16 yards on 4 carries and record 42 receiving yards with two catches. But when Spiller injured his shoulder in the 1st half against the Browns, Bills fans may have started to worry. Tashard Choice finished the game as the premiere back and rushed for 91 yards on 20 carries in a 24-14 win against the Browns (0-3).
The offense started fast with 14 1st quarter points. T.J. Graham capped a 8 play-58 yard drive with a nine yard touchdown reception then Spiller took a screen pass out of the backfield and scored from 32 yards out.
Though the Browns were giving their best push for a comeback the defense played well. They held rookie running back Trent Richardson to 27 yards on 12 carries. They also held Richardson’s fellow rookie teammate Brandon Weeden to 237 yards passing as he threw one touchdown and two interceptions.
With the win the Bills (2-1) move into a 1st place tie with the Jets. This week they will host the visiting Patriots (1-2) in an early season divisional game. The team did get some good news regarding their running backs injuries. C.J. Spiller is said to only miss 1-2 weeks while Fred Jackson has commented that he likes his chances of playing this week. If Spiller is out look for Choice to be the backup if Jackson is active.
